Stage micrometer: A lens with a wide High-precision geometry or others commonly used for the calibration of microscope eyepiece reticles .. Normally a 1 "x 3" transparent glass slide with a scale of chromium printed on it. Is placed on the microscope stage and viewed as a sample. The scale can be aligned with the scale of ocular grid resulting in an accurate measurement of the expansion of the microscope. This then allows the use of a grid to make accurate measurements of other dimensions sample. exact measurement of microscopic objects requires the use of a grid ocular (eyepiece micrometer alias) and a micrometer. The grid is an ocular circular glass disk on which a scale has been recorded. Ocular grid is inserted into one eyepiece and held in place at the correct focal plane of the eye. The eyepiece and the reticle eyepiece can be rotated 360 degrees in eyetube so the scale of measurement can be aligned with or superimposed on the image of your sample. A typical eyepiece graticule scale would linear, 5 mm or 10 mm with 50 or 100 divisions. Before using the ocular grid for accurate measurements, the grid needs to be calibrated using a micrometer eyepiece. A micrometer is simply a microscope slide with a pattern of known dimensions engraved on its surface. The micrometer is placed directly on the microscope stage and put on the table. Turning the eye both scales can be placed parallel to each other. To calibrate the ocular reticle should first find out how many intervals of the grid eye corresponding to a certain distance in the micrometer. You can then calculate the value of an ocular grid interval. Each microscope objective must be calibrated independently.
