Is there such a thing as AVP pipes? Are they the commercial grade plastic plumbing pipes?

I am in an argument with a “know it all” who claims that 3″ PVC is just as good as commercial grade when using in an application where the pipe is buried one foot underground and covered with 4 inches of cement. I disagree. I believe the PVC will break and cause cause more damage than good in the long run.

Size the pipe diameter and the type of pipe to the application. The type of pipe will depend what the system is used for and where it is located. Some cities add to uniform code and tell you where you can use what. There is different types of plumbing pipes, sanitation, fire, domestic, storm, etc. Each has its own requirements. Check city, state and UPC.
