Can a collapsed lung to reduce the amount of O2 is used when receiving oxygen therapy?
My mom is 3 liters of oxygen. Two lobes in the right lung collapsed. His MD signed by her to get a new regulator (?) For their O2 tanks to make them last longer. She was receiving continuous O2, but with the new regulator (I think it is called a conservation device or something) that only gets when breathing O2 in Your respiratory therapist said that a tank should be approximately 4 hours in a 3L reservoir, but has lasted its almost 24 hrs. Partially collapsed lungs could be why a tank it lasts much longer than normal? btw … not sure if this will make a difference, but has metastatic breast cancer in the right lung.
How do you feel? if you are tired, may be the lack of oxygen. Maybe you can call the supplier of tanks and ask how long past. accompany his mother to his appointment and ask the opinion of a 2 or a direct answer.
